Current Plans = 546 MW; Longer Term Potential = 1,150 MW
Wind assessment studies in Du Mon County have demonstrated potential installed capacity of up to 1,150 MW of wind energy developable over an area of 612 square kilometres. While the 1,150 MW marks China Wind’s long-term potential for wind power in the area, the Company’s current plans are for building out capacity of 546 MW over five development phases.
China Wind’s current plans are included in the Power Grid Master Plan of Daqing City, which means the Company does not have any foreseeable barriers to hooking up to the grid in the future. Importantly, the first of the Company’s wind projects is already up and running. By late 2009, China Wind had completed Phase 1 of its current five phase build out and commenced commercial energy production with 34 installed wind turbines representing capacity of 49 MW.
